Welcome Parents, Students, and Teachers!

Presidents Message

Greeting Parkville High Parents, Students, Faculty and Staff,

The PHS PTSA is excited to welcome you to Parkville High School and the 2016-17 school year. Whether you are the parent of a returning student or an incoming freshman we are grateful to have you as part of our Parkville High Community. We hope everyone has had the chance to enjoy the fun-filled summer days with your family; as we invite you to get ready for another exciting and successful school year.

Last year your PTSA stepped up above and beyond to support many new initiatives for our students, parents and teachers both on the academic front and the social/health and welfare of our teens. We had a great year and as a group accomplished many things. It is our hope that this year will be no different as we begin to plan out the year and ways to support Parkville High, our parents, students, teachers and administration as a whole.

It has always been the mission of the Parkville High School PTSA to encourage and support our parents, teachers, students, and administrators, and we think that there is no better way to do this than to get involved in the PTSA. With your support, we can continue to make Parkville academically challenging and nurturing for our children. Parkville High School is a community based on vibrant parent involvement. Your contribution, whether it is your time, knowledge, or resources make a difference, and no effort is too small. We personally invite you to become a member of the Parkville High School PTSA. Help us jump start the year by joining us. Money raised by your paid membership, donations and fundraisers are used for paying our Maryland dues and to fund educational programs, health and welfare programs, assemblies, student recognition breakfasts along with scholarships, the After Prom Party (a safe drug & alcohol free event) and more. Please remember if you have a student at Parkville High School, your PTSA is here to help support you and your child.  We need your support to help fund the programs that enrich our school.  Your membership form can be completed and returned to school, to the attention of PTSA - Deana Lofstad/Membership or brought to School during our welcome Back to School Night on September 8th.

The 2016/17 school year brings new things, this year the PTSA will be accepting credit cards (MC, Visa, Am Ex., and Discover – your information will not be kept and we will use identity theft roller tape for your extra protection) for all purchases, and donations along with checks in order to help serve you better. The PTSA is excited to be accepting credit and checks but please be aware that only the PTSA will take credit cards and checks the school itself will only accept cash. Speaking of new things, the executive board has been brain storming new ways to support our school and its’ educational and social programs and we need you! You made it through elementary and middle school as parents and have lots of Ideas and Knowledge and would like for you to come and share that with us.  PTSA meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30pm in room 96.  Everyone is welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity to see what your PTSA is doing in support of our students and staff, to hear what is happening at school from the student’s perspective as well as from an administrator and/or a staff member.  We will keep you abreast of current activities and the activities throughout the school year by utilizing connect-ed calls, along with our email blasts, so please be sure to include your email address on your membership form as we send out important PTSA and School information.

Lastly, your Executive Board is here to help you start your year off right. We are all excited to meet you, work with you, and laugh with you. Please join us and see how exciting High School can be when you are the parent! If you need more information, please feel free to contact one of your executive board members below.

Principals Message

Dear Parkville Families,

I am excited to welcome everyone back for the 2016-2017 school year.  This summer the leadership team and staff reflected on the successes of this past school year and have planned a clear focus for the fall.

We continue to work side by side with our PTSA and appreciate all of the support they provide for our students and their families.  Already the plans for this coming year are in place and are sure to help us continue to provide a quality education for our students.

I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August as we host our first Ninth Grade Early Entry Day and then all students return on August 24th.  As we begin this school year I always ask that families please take the time during the first few weeks of school to discuss high expectations for your child to help them establish goals for the school year.  All members of the PHS family are committed to supporting our students’ goals.  We look forward to building on past successes and helping them experience continued success this year.

Respectfully,

Maureen Astarita

Principal
